GW's Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows remote access to many university systems and resources that are otherwise protected from off-campus access. It does this by creating a "virtual" encrypted channel from your remote location back to GW's network. Eduroam is a global wireless network available for GW and members of participating institutions. GWConnect is the primary wireless service for GW visitors and guests. VPN Access These pages provide VPN configurations for unmanaged devices (e.g. research devices, personal computers). In order to use the VPN on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, you need to download the appropriate VPN client or university VPN profile to your device.

VPN service is available at no cost to all university students, faculty, staff, and some sponsored affiliates with a valid uniqname and UMICH (Level-1) password at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint. Sponsored affiliates are able to use the VPN if they are issued a University of Michigan ID (UMID) number with their sponsorship

VPN Required To be provided with secure access to the University’s resources a user will need a virtual private network (VPN) connection. It is a connection between your off-campus computer and the University network.
