Dec 29, 2008 · I have an intel pentium laptop that has windows vista. The security programme was norton 360 till the subscription ran out yesterday. The internet was working yesterday morning, and when I turned it on yesterday afternoon there is no connection to the internet. I've been trying to figure this one out for over 2 hours now. I've googled for solutions but to no avail. Here's a list of different solutions I've attempted: Tried to manually insert an IP. Checked if the cable was faulty. Checked if the router was faulty. Uninstalled LAN drivers and rebooted an unidentified network that I cannot rename. By default, unidentified networks are public in Vista, which means that network discovery is off and I can't see the other computers on the network. At this point I can do one of two things: (1) I can change this unidentified network to a private network which enables me to see other computers, but I have (vista home perimium) my internet connection shows unindentified network,i am not able to connect any wifi connections.but on my friends who are who are using the same wifi connection ,has no problem in the connection.

Have 2 laptops getting unidentified Network Local Access Only on Windows Vista Home Basic. One is a Toshiba and the other is a Dell. I can use the Ethernet on the Toshiba at one of The Fire Dept.
